Gözde Zehnder (b. Istanbul, 1973) is a filmmaker and has been directing both experimental short films & both short and long form documentary projects. She has graduated with a BA degree in Media Studies (Majored in Film & Video production) from Edith Cowan University, Australia. Awarded best foreign graduating student award in Photography and Consistent Good Work
Award in Film & Video upon graduation, she has garnered awards for her experimental short-films that screened in film festivals worldwide. She moved to Singapore in 1999 and founded freestate productions in 2000. Since 2006, her focus has been on documentary works mostly concentrated on history, arts, heritage, culture, lifestyle and architecture. Between 2011-2015, she produced and directed documentaries about history of arts in Singapore and in Southeast Asia for the National Gallery Singapore. Her latest lifestyle documentary series Remarkable Living has won Gold in the Documentaries: Lifestyle Category of the World Media Festival 2021 in Germany. She gives workshops and talks on super8mm filmmaking and documentary filmmaking. Her interest in photography and experimental films are reflected in most of her visual projects and her photographs have been exhibited and auctioned over the years.
